Los Angeles Workers Demand Higher Pay and Union Representation
Workers have come together for a march through Los Angeles to raise awareness about unfair labor conditions and low wages. Though California has recently increased its minimum wage, there have been national movements drawing attention to the plight of the working class and common laborers.
There is some concern that the new Trump administration will bring strong opposition to unions and labor causes. Unions are an important check on the private sector, and their repeal may bring a widespread abuse of workers across the United States. In total, around 600 people peacefully marched through Los Angeles and the surrounding areas and demonstrated for an hour.
Employment Issues
There are many different issues that a worker may face on the job. Some of these issues include:
- Wrongful Termination
- Sexual Harassment
- Discrimination
- Wage and Hour Violations
- Whistleblower
- Breach of Contract
These issues arise with workers across the United States every single day. Unfortunately, it can be intimidating to address an issue with an employer for fear of termination or lack of upward mobility. This pervades employment law cases because of the corporate culture that exists at many m=places of employment. Furthermore, these issues can be complex so it may be difficult to fully understand the rights and responsibilities of both the employer and the employee. Because of this, many of these issues go unresolved which has left many workers feeling upset and left behind.
Available Solutions
Fortunately, there are many remedies available for someone who wants to bring an employment law case. These may include recovery of lost wages and benefits, compensatory damages for discrimination, punitive damages for extra punishment of the company, and any other relevant costs that the court believes should be compensated. It is important that anyone who believes that they are entitled to damages for an employment law case contact an attorney so that they can determine if they are likely to recover.
