Earlier this month, a former employee in Los Angeles filed a lawsuit against her former Glendale employer alleging age discrimination.
In the complaint, the employee argues that she was unlawfully discharged from her job as a result of her age, citing violations of California’s Fair Employment Housing Act (FEHA). As a result of her termination, the employee further argued that she suffered a loss of future income, as well as a host of other benefits, including mental anguish, embarrassment and emotional distress.
The plaintiff, who was 61 years of age at the time of her termination, is seeking a trial by jury, in addition to punitive and compensatory damages, reinstatement of former employment, and attorney fees and court costs.
